The Gourmet wood-fired oven from Four Grand-Mére is the largest of their domestic range and ideal for the larger family or artisan micro baker. The Gourmet is a large domed oven designed for even heat distribution and is made from steel-fibre reinforced volcanic concrete and specialised fire bricks and tiles. The Gourmet wood-fired oven can hold 4-5 pizzas or 6-7 1kg round loaves, and is suitable for cooking everything from bread and pizzas to meringues. The refractory, the tiles upon which the food is cooked, is surrounded by highly efficient insulating material to increase the substantial heat retention capabilities of the oven. Suitable for indoor or outdoor installation, the ‘Gourmet’ is a beautiful addition to any kitchen or garden.
The Gourmet oven comes in 4 models, standard and raised height (+7.5cm), and volcanic concrete ("chamotte") or brick lined.
All models may be used for bread and pizzas. The raised height gives easier access to the rear of the oven and allows for roasting. The brick lining gives both an attractive finish to the inside of the oven and exceptional heat distribution.
We chose to keep Four Grand-Mère ovens after installing one and living with it at home for a couple of years, so that we really understood how to get the best from these high-end ovens. Read about Patrick's experience here.
