Details

The Brød & Taylor Folding Proofer makes made-from-scratch baking easier than ever with an optimum proofing environment and easy storage. Set the temperature lower for a longer “cool rise” or turn up the heat to give your yeast a boost on a cold winter's day. A large window gives you a full view of the spacious interior where full-sized loaves fit easily. There is no need to cover your dough as the included water tray keeps humidity at an optimum level. The temperature of the proofer can be set from 21-49°C / 70-120°F and comes with a UK 3 pin plug as standard (optionally subsitute for an EU plug lead). You can also use proofer to make yogurt and crême fraiche, melt and hold tempered chocolate and soften butter. Please have a look at the FAQs section for answers to the most common questions.

Product FAQs

Ask a Question

  • will the folding proover work in Australia voltage 240v
Yes it will - the voltage and frequency is the same as the UK. The difference is only the plug that fits into the wall. The correct lead can be bought from us, just tick the '1 x 2 Pin Euro Power Supply Cable' from the Brød and Taylor page.
  • is it possible to use the proofer in europe just by changing the plug?
Yes it is - the voltage and frequency is the same all over Europe including the UK. The difference is only the plug that fits into the wall. The correct lead can be bought from us, just tick the '1 x 2 Pin Euro Power Supply Cable' from the Brød and Taylor page.
  • Is this proofer suitable for hand made loaves ?
Yes, the proofer is suitable for all types of bread.
  • Does the proofer come with an instruction manual?
Yes it comes with a very comprehensive manual which also includes some recipes to try.
  • Do I have to wait for the proofer to heat up?
For best results, we'd recommend allowing the proofer to heat up for 5-10 minutes.
  • Can I chose between Celcius and Fahrenheit?
Yes you can, you just need to hold down both the 'UP' and 'Down' buttons to cycle between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
  • Is the Folding Proofer easy to set-up and use?
Yes, absolutely, it's designed with simplicity in mind and only takes around a minute to set-up and using it is as simple as turning it on, setting the temperature and you're done.
  • How do I know if my folding proofer is working correctly?
The folding proofer is designed to keep its contents at the set temperature – not the air itself. To test the temperature of the proofer, fill a small metal cup half full with room temperature water and place on the wire rack in the center of the proofer. Turn on the proofer & set to 30°C. Wait 45 minutes then measure the temperature of the water. The water temperature should be within 1-2 degrees of the set point value. Materials such as wet dough will respond in a similar manner to the cup of water.
  • Could you please tell me how you Temper and hold the tem of the Chocolate in the machine. I have seen a video showing how you melt choc but not Tempering.Kind regardsVal
Have a look at the following links, which will hopefully give you the information you need. Chocolate page: http://brodandtaylor.com/melting-chocolate/ Detailed instructions: http://brodandtaylor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Chocolate_tempering.pdf
  • How many loaves can I prove using this? The dimensions would seem to accommodate a couple of the 1kg oval cane bannetons. Is this realistic?
Yes, you can comfortably fit 2 x 1kg Oval cane bannetons into the proofer.
  • Is it possible to use a banneton inside the proofer? I've read the instructions, they say that is better to use a plastic container, I'd like to use my bannetons...
Using cane, or wicker Bannetons in the folding proofer is absolutely fine.
